This place is fabulous. Never disappoints me. I went there three times and there's consistency in the good food quality. We ordered two chicken dishes and the beefburger. All was cooked very well and the side vegetables were great. The portion is really good and filing. We got the lunch plus dessert offers which were in the good price range. The desserts were good. I got a lovely cup of tea, and a family member got latte, which wasn't the best. They might need to work on their latte a bit. The place is so clean and tidy. The staff are amazing and very nice. I highly recommend this restaurant. It's one of the nicest places in Galway.

In this new stage of retail capitalism where benches in shopping centres and city centres are intentionally removed, the only place to socialise with others is to spend money and end up at these food/coffee 'restaurants'/cafes.

This particular one, other than a fast-food place close-by, is the only 'proper' food place in this area. 'Proper' of course being the operative word as the food in Franklins is as far from 'proper' as you can get...and it hasn't changed in years. Whether it's the rubbery carvery for dinner or the one slice of processed ham in my €8 standard ham and cheese for lunch, this usually unfussy reviewer when it comes to food feels that the actual food makes up only a small part of the awful aftertaste of this experience.

Why do I dwell on an unimportant ham and cheese sandwich? Why does this become such a big thing? It's possibly because that it's difficult to not feel that I was robbed by this place because that miserable sandwich with the miserly contents is not the real annoyance. It's the €16 I coughed up for two to feed a very hungry 4 year old and a 2 year old. That's the horrible aftertaste that will not go away easily...and I fully blame myself for being in the situation. At least when you're literally robbed, it's usually the less well-off that benefits. When you're robbed by a suit or a business-owner - that bug might never leave you. All over a ham and cheese sandwich.
